Summer Solstice 2019

Do you know?
Summer Solstice is June 21, 2019, the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere.
This year, the northern summer solstice falls at 11:54 a.m. ET.
And South of the Equator, the same moment marks the unofficial beginning of winter!
Solstice around the world- occur at the same time [with time zones, local times may vary].
The solstice occurs because the Earth’s axis of rotation is tilted around the sun.
This tilt is the driving force of our plants seasons, as the Northern and Southern Hemispheres get unequal amounts of sunlight over the year.
In the months from March to September, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted more toward the sun – bring in spring and summer.
