Our Flag
On
June 14, 1777, our flag was born. It is more the cloth shaped into a design. It
is the refuge of the world’s oppressed people. It’s the silent sentinel of
freedom for so many. It is the inspiration for which American patriots gave
their lives and fortunes. It has led our sons and daughters into battle from
Valley Forge to the bloody ridges of Vietnam to the sands of the Persian Gulf.
It has flown through peace and war, strife and prosperity, and amidst it all it
has been respected.
“Old
Glory” is my nickname and proudly I wave on High. Honor me, respect me, and
defend me with your lives and fortune.”
