Halloween Safety Month: Since Halloween is in October, this month reminds us to have a spooktacular but safe time. We learn how to be careful while trick-or-treating and make sure our costumes are safe to wear.
A few safety tips for parents
and kids:
For Parents:
Costume
Safety: Ensure your child's
costume is flame-resistant and doesn't obstruct their vision. Add reflective
tape to make them more visible in the dark.
Trick-or-Treat
Supervision: Accompany young
children when trick-or-treating and set a curfew for older kids. Plan a route
in advance and stick to well-lit areas.
Check Candy: Examine all the collected candy to ensure it's sealed and safe to eat. Discard any items with damaged packaging.
Teach
Road Safety: Remind kids to use
crosswalks and look both ways before crossing the street. Ensure they
understand the importance of staying on sidewalks. Travel in groups.
Hey there, fifth graders and older kids!
Halloween is an exciting time, but it's essential to make sure it's a safe one too. Here are some important safety tips to keep in mind as you celebrate:
·
Stay with a
Group:
Trick-or-treat with your friends or family. Going with a group is not only more
fun, but it's also safer. Stick together and look out for each other. Never go
alone.
·
Don't Enter
Strangers' Homes: When
you're out collecting candy, only visit houses with their porch lights on. It's
a sign that they're welcoming trick-or-treaters. But remember, even if you're
invited inside, it's a big no-no! Stay on the porch and don't go into anyone's
home you don't know well.
·
Use a
Flashlight: It gets dark on
Halloween night, and it's important to see and be seen. Carry a flashlight or
some glow sticks to light your way. This not only helps you see where you're
going but also makes you more visible to drivers on the road.
·
Respect Traffic
Rules: When
you're walking around, always use crosswalks, look both ways before crossing
the street, and obey traffic signals and signs. It's important to walk, not
run, and be very careful when crossing roads. Drivers might be distracted, so
be extra cautious.
By following these safety
tips, you can make sure Halloween is not only super fun but also super safe.
So, go out there, have a fantastic time, and collect lots of treats – all while
staying safe and sound! Have a spook-tacular Halloween! 🎃👻
