National Fire Prevention Week (October 5–11)
π₯ National Fire Prevention Week! (October 5–11)
Hey
everyone! Do you know what this week is?
It’s National
Fire Prevention Week! A time
when schools, families, and communities across the country learn how to stop fires before they
start — and what to do if
one happens.
The
theme is staying
safe and being smart around
fire — at home, in school, and even outdoors. Let’s explore some cool facts,
safety tips, and a field trip idea!
***
Fun Fire Safety Trivia!
1. What color are most fire trucks?
2. Who invented the first fire hydrant?
3. What tool do firefighters slide down to reach the trucks
fast?
4. What number should you call in an emergency?
5. True or False: You should hide under the bed if there’s smoke.

π₯ Fire Prevention Tips for Kids
You can be a fire safety hero by
doing these simple things at home:
Check smoke alarms with
an adult — they should beep when tested.
Never play with matches
or lighters.
Keep blankets, paper, or
clothes away from heaters or candles.
Help plan two escape
routes from every room in your house.
Know your family’s
meeting spot outside (like a mailbox, neighbors, or big tree).
Remember: “Don’t wait — check the
date!” Smoke alarms older
than 10 years need to be replaced.

Visit a Fire Station!
One of the best parts of Fire
Prevention Week is getting to visit
a local firehouse!
You can:
·
Meet real firefighters
·
Try on gear (it’s
heavier than it looks!)
·
Learn how the fire
truck works,
·
Watch a demo on how
fast they can suit up,
·
Ask your best “what
if” safety questions.
Firefighters love when kids visit and learn — it helps everyone stay safer.

Challenge of the Week:
Ask
your family to do a fire
drill at home this week. Time how fast everyone can get out
safely! Then, draw a map of your house with two exits from each room — just
like real safety pros.
***
Bonus Brain Teaser:
If there are 4 fire trucks and each carry 5 firefighters, how many firefighters total are there?
Answer: 20 πͺ
