EARTH DAY- Did You Know?
Hey kids, did you know that there are two special days dedicated to taking care of our planet and making the world a better place?
Earth Day (April 22):
Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22.
It started in 1970.
When people around the world work together to help the
environment.
On Earth Day, you, your family, and friends, can join in activities like:
·
Cleaning up your local park,
·
Recycling,
·
Learning about ways to save energy.
Also, it's a great day to appreciate nature and think about how we can protect the Earth for future generations.
And did you know? Arbor Day
(April 26, 2024):
Arbor Day is basically all about planting and caring for
trees! This year, Arbor Day falls on Friday, April 26.
The day began in 1872 in Nebraska to plant trees and
improve the land.
Why are trees important – you ask?
Well, trees are important because:
·
They provide oxygen,
·
Clean the air,
·
Give us shade and homes for wildlife.
On Arbor Day, you can plant a tree, learn about different
types of trees, and why they are so important for the environment.
Both Earth Day and Arbor Day are great opportunities to
learn about the environment and take action to help our planet!
