Saint Nicholas Day
Saint Nicholas Day recognizes the
third-century saint who became an inspiration for the modern-day Santa Claus. St. Nicholas is known
for selling all his possessions and giving his money to the poor.
Celebrated always on December 6th in the United States. Part of the tradition, on the eve Saint Nicholas Day December 5th, children leave their empty shoes out in front of their bedrooms or the fireplace.
Trivia history: After WWII/ World War II, December 6th became a major holiday in Italy. An
even bigger holiday in Europe, among the Dutch and Italians.
One Chaplin dressed up as
St. Nickolas (San Nicolo) asking the warriors to give items to him to give to
kids.
Observed
and celebrated on 6th of December in Western Christian countries and a weeklong fair called Fiera di Nicolo.
It is celebrated by kids, placing shoes in the foyer before bedtime, hoping to receive many treats.

Unlike Thanksgiving Day that is always celebrated on the
third Thursday in November.
