Sweet
snacks taste yummy good!
Such
as cakes, cupcakes, candy, cookies, ice cream,
But
they aren’t that good for your teeth!
Many
of these foods can cause tooth decay.
So
what are sugars- sugar/ sucrose, corn sweetener/ fructose, and starch all can
cause havoc on your teeth?

The
sugary snacks you eat mixed with the plaque that covers the surface of the
teeth, and bacteria in the plaque grabs the sugar cause it tastes good but not
good for your teeth.
Why?
Because, the bacteria turn to acid, which is so strong it melts — softens —
break–up, the hard surface [called enamel], that covers the teeth.
And
that’s how the cavity /decay begins.
So
be careful with those sweets on your teeth!

That’s
the question you need to ask yourself before you reach for a snack.
It's
packed with sugar!

- all-day snack kind -of - person?
With
certain types of sticky sweets, it can stay on the teeth a long time, just
hanging out, causing the hard enamel to slowly break- down over time. With

It’s
a good idea to rinse your mouth after a sweet snack if you’re unable to brush
your teeth.
There
are many snacks low in sugar content that you can eat if you snack after school
or during the day.
Check
for food/snacks that have reduced sugar and low-fat ingredients.
Choice:
This may not be your first choice, but they will save your teeth from cavities.
Fresh fruits
Note: Some fruits are naturally sweet and yummy, but too can cause problems, so again rinse or brush after snacks!
