Dr. Seuss – Did you know?

Born on March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Massachusetts as Theodor Seuss Geisel, attended Dartmouth College he joined the humor magazine called the Dartmouth Jack-O-Lantern becoming the editor –in-chief. Drinking was prohibited during that time.

As a result, he was forced to resign hat magazine for being tipsy, sloshed, smashed, stoned, plastered, - drunk. Because he loved the work; he decided to continue under a pen name ‘Seuss.’

After WWII/World War II, living in La Jolla, California, he began writing children’s books under the pen name Dr. Seuss.

I’ m sure you have as many favorites as I!  There are so many, some of my favorites, the ‘Cat in the Hat’ If I Ran the Zoo, One Fish Two Fish Red Blue Fish, and many more.

It was in 1997, that the National Education Association, focused, on a day celebrating READING! In hopes, to encourage children throughout North America, to Read more - the date, March 2, 1998, which is also, the birthday of Dr. Seuss.
