May 3 – National Teacher Appreciation Day 🍎

This special day celebrates teachers ‘OUR TEACHERS’ and all the hard work they do to help students learn and grow. People began honoring teachers many years ago to thank them for making a difference in children’s lives.

May 4 – Star Wars Day 🌟

“May the Fourth be with you!” 😉 that phrase became popular because it sounds like the famous Star Wars phrase, “May the Force be with you.” Fans around the world celebrate by watching movies, dressing up, and sharing fun space adventures.

May 5 – Cinco de Mayo 🇲🇽

Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico’s victory over the French Army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Today, people honor Mexican culture with music, dancing, delicious food, and colorful celebrations.

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate mothers, grandmothers, and caring adults near and far, who show love and support every day. The holiday became popular in the United States in the early 1900s.

May 12 – National Limerick Day 

This fun day honors Edward Lear, a famous writer known for silly five-line poems called limericks. Limericks are playful poems that often rhyme and make readers laugh.

May 15 – National Chocolate Chip Day 

Chocolate chips yummy - were invented in the 1930s when Ruth Wakefield added bits of chocolate to cookie dough. Now chocolate chips are enjoyed in cookies, pancakes, ice cream, and many sweet treats.

May 20 – National Rescue Dog Day 

This day is another special day for dogs - reminds people about the importance of adopting rescue dogs from shelters. Rescue dogs can become loving pets and loyal family companions.

May 28 – National Hamburger Day  

About ‘Hamburgers’ that became popular in America over 100 years ago and are now one of the country’s favorite foods. Many families celebrate by enjoying burgers at cookouts or restaurants.

Nature Scavenger Hunt Challenge
Grab a notebook and head outside with family or friends to search for things in nature like a smooth rock, yellow flower, feather, butterfly, or funny-shaped cloud. Draw or write about each item you find and create your own “Nature Explorer” badge at the end!
