Hey Kids,

May is an exciting month because it’s packed with fun celebrations! Let’s dive into three awesome things happening this month:

National Barbecue Month

May is National Barbecue Month! This is the perfect time for the family to fire up the grill and enjoy delicious, barbecued foods with the family and friends. Imagine juicy burgers, tasty hot dogs, and grilled veggies – all cooked outside in the nice weather.

Barbecues are not just about food; they’re also about having a great time together!

And everyone safe stay around those grills- Please!

National Strawberry Month

Guess what? May is also National Strawberry Month! Strawberries are super yummy and they’re at their best right now. You can eat them fresh, dip them in chocolate, or add them to your cereal. Yummy! Some people even go to strawberry farms to pick their own strawberries – how cool is that?

Plus, strawberries are really good for you because they’re full of vitamins. I guess you didn’t know that! 😉 I’m just glad they’re tasty!

Strawberries: Did You Know?

Early Origins of strawberries were ‘Wild Strawberries’

Since ancient times, wild varieties have been consumed by people in Europe, Asia, and the Americas for thousands of years.

The Romans used wild strawberries for medicinal purposes, believing they alleviated symptoms of depression and fevers.

By the Middle Ages, strawberries were being cultivated in gardens.

17th Century: The first significant hybrid strawberry was developed in Europe. In 1714, a French engineer, Amédée-François Frézier, brought a large-fruited strawberry plant from Chile to France. This plant was hybridized with the North American Virginia strawberry.

And by the 19th and 20th Centuries: Strawberry cultivation expanded globally, with new varieties being developed for better flavor, size, and resistance to diseases.

Wow! Who knew!

National Bike Month

Last but not least, May is National Bike Month! This month, we celebrate the fun and benefits of riding bikes. Biking is an awesome way to get exercise, explore your neighborhood, and help the environment.

Maybe you can join a bike ride event or learn some bike safety tips. So, grab your helmet, hop on your bike, and let’s go for a ride!

So, there you have it – May is all about barbecues, strawberries, and biking. Let’s enjoy the month and all the cool things it has to offer!😊
